You NEED an Employee Handbook

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

Whether you've got two employees or two thousand, an employee handbook is essential. Employee handbooks create a contract with the employees of what is expected of them and educates them on what they can expect from the company. It gives employees a detailed overview of your organization's policies, guidelines, and employee benefits. It can also protect your business against employee lawsuits and claims, such as wrongful termination, harassment, and discrimination. It is a necessary introduction to your business for new hires, providing insights to understand your company's mission and values. Ideally, an Employee Handbook is created at the start of your business and updated at least yearly (but more often is recommended) to keep up with current industry and state guidelines. Elevated HR will help you to create or update your employee handbook to not only protect your business but help welcome new employees and get them started right!

Though we will customize your handbook to your business's particular needs, a typical handbook lude things such as a welcome message to new or current employees, your vision and mission, as well as certain policies and procedures you’ll have in place. Common policies include:

1. Sexual Harassment

2. Behavior Policies

3. Attendance

4. Meal and Rest Periods

5. Timekeeping

6. Telephone/E-mail/Internet Use

7. PTO

8. Benefits

9. And more…
